City University of Macau is home to nearly 13,000 students. The university offers more than 50 Chinese- and English-medium degree programs. These include 12 bachelor’s degree programs, 22 master’s degree programs, and 15 doctoral and PhD programs.

The university comprises 11 faculties. These include the Faculty of Business, Faculty of Data Science, Faculty of Finance, Faculty of Health and Wellness, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Innovation and Design, Faculty of International Tourism and Management, School of Education, School of Law, Institute for Research on Portuguese-Speaking Countries, and Institute of Urban and Sustainable Development.

Admission Requirements and Application Process

Undergraduate Admission (Mainland Students) : Applications open from May 1, 2026 to June 30, 2026. CityU Macau implements independent admissions that do not occupy national college entrance exam (Gaokao) volunteer slots. Admission is based on Gaokao scores, with no English subject score restrictions and no additional university exams or interviews.

Students with Gaokao scores above the special type admission control line (equivalent to the first-tier university line) receive priority admission. Those scoring above the undergraduate line are also eligible for admission. The university accepts students from both humanities and science streams.

Master’s Admission (2026/2027) : The application period runs from November 1, 2025 to April 30, 2026. Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. For graduates from previous years, the national postgraduate entrance exam score must meet the national first-tier score requirement. English proficiency proof (CET-4/CET-6, IELTS, TOEFL, etc.) may be required.

Key Application Notes: Macao universities do not accept international curriculum scores (such as IB or A-Level) from Mainland Chinese Gaokao students. Only Gaokao scores are recognized for Mainland applicants. CityU Macau has never authorized any agency to act on its behalf for student recruitment. All applications must be submitted through the official website.

Tuition Fees, Scholarships, and Campus Life

Tuition Fees (2026/2027) : Undergraduate tuition ranges from approximately HKD 90,000 to 125,000 per year. For example, the Bachelor of Business Administration costs HKD 125,000 per year. Master’s programs cost approximately HKD 115,000 per year. On-campus accommodation costs start from HKD 28,000 per year.

Scholarships: Gaokao scores above the special type admission control line qualify for entrance scholarships ranging from HKD 83,000 to 175,000. The university offers various scholarship types for outstanding students.

Campus Facilities: CityU Macau has three campuses: Taipa (main campus, approximately 40,000 square meters), Golden Dragon, and Pou Yee. The Taipa campus features nine buildings including the Tai Fung Building, Administration Building, Wang Kuan Cheng Building, Sino-Portuguese Building, Stanley Ho Building, Choi Kai Yau Building, Ho Yin Conference Centre, Cultural Centre, and staff dormitories. The campus includes outdoor gardens, classrooms, computer labs, and a graduate library and information services centre.

45th Anniversary Celebrations: CityU Macau celebrated its 45th anniversary in 2026.
